Attention and Consciousness

 

The focus of the workshop will be on the relationship between the attention and consciousness.  Questions to be address include: Can there be consciousness without attention? Can there be attention without consciousness? Are there separate neural bases for consciousness and for attention? What is the role of attention and consciousness in reference to objects?

Speakers will include Ned Block (NYU), John Campbell (Berkeley), David Chalmers (ANU), Matthew Finkbeiner (Macquarie), Chris Mole (UBC), Eric Schwitzgebel (UC Riverside), Brian Scholl (Yale), Declan Smithies (ANU/OSU).
